The collection the archive grew out of
BoxedClassic began as a photographic archive of the boxes in our LEGO® collection. The collection has thousands of items, most of them from the golden era of the 1980s and 1990s. We also collect Formula 1 and other model cars, mainly in 1:43 and 1:18.
The larger sets of that time came in flap-lid boxes with a plastic inlay that showed the main pieces. When we were completing those sets, we needed to know how the pieces sat in the inlay. That is how our archive began. We photograph the front and back, the sides, the opened flap and the inlay. The back often shows alternative models the set could build.
As the collection grew, at some point it had to be thinned out. The shop has the things from our collection we are letting go: LEGO sets from 1980–1999 and newer ones, and model cars. The photographs always show the item you are buying.
